“Our family operates kind of ‘lopsidedly’.  Mom tends to do most, if not all, of the traveling, taking Melanie and I where we need to be, cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc., whereas Dad does a lot of the outside work, works in the garage on the vehicles, and other miscellaneous things.  Both of my parents work full time and Melanie and I are in school, but I wouldn’t say we’re a ‘normal’ family, whatever that even means.  We are rarely home all together and very seldom have a family dinner, all four of us.  We are always in different places at different times that it makes it very hard to do things as a whole family.  As the one person that is often gone the most, I do feel like I miss out on a lot of things.  Whether it’s just lounge time or the chance to actually do something all together, the opportunities are few and far between.  It makes it hard when you have to miss one thing to do another and it’s kind of upsetting that Melanie and one parent can’t always come to my concerts or performances and that I can’t always go to her events either.  However, in the end, we love each other and the time we do get to spend together is just that much more special.”
